Professors, policymakers, members of the media, or speaking requests:
Email me here.
Mailing lists, guest posts, and other marketing/PR:
I do not take guest posts or market content for remuneration. See here for more detail, and email here if you still want to reach out.
UChicago students:
You can email me or sign up for in-person office hours.
My office hours commonly fill up 2 weeks in advance or more. For the fall 2024 quarter, I am teaching 3 courses and so office hours will be harder to book than usual. In fairness to other students, please avoid canceling last minute if you book.
Undergrad and MPP students not in my classes: Feel free to sign up to discuss career advice, research, or other topics. I may need to cancel some of these appointments to meet class demands at times.
If you are interested in a RA position: Please email me with your background and CV before booking office hours.
Answer to common questions:
Applying to UChicago degrees or want a job with me?
In response to common questions, I’ve written several posts:
-
- General advice on Master’s programs, including information on the Harris programs
- General advice on PhD applications
- Want to work on my research projects?
- See other advice posts in the menu
I’m not directly involved in admissions or hiring, but those posts should tell you most of what you need to know.
Apologies, but we have so many applicants I usually cannot respond to individual emails. This lets me maximize time with current students.
Non-UChicago students and social media followers:
Alas, I get too many advice requests and questions to reply. But I do want to give as many young people as possible the benefits of advice. That’s why I wrote the advice posts in the menu above.
If you think another topic deserves coverage, I am happy to hear it.
