Guest post by Jeff Mosenkis of Innovations for Poverty Action.
- The NYTimes’ Nick Kristof writes about the new and very real findings in Science about helping the ultra-poor, in “The Power of Hope” today. On the Development Impact blog, there’s a very good analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the study by the great Ben Olzer.
- Kiva co-founder Matt Flannery is starting up a digital bank in Kenya hoping to target people in their 20’s and 30’s with loans from $20-$1000. It will use data on user transaction histories for lending decisions.
- If you missed it, Chris posted about the new IPA Peace and Recovery Program, which will be seeking to build knowledge around how to best address conflicts and crises in countries around the world. More at http://www.poverty-action.org/peace.
- The World Bank is hiring for a behavioral econ-style Nudge Unit (h/t Shardul O.). Psychologists applying, remember that for your work to count as behavioral economics, simply say it with absolute confidence the other side is wrong.
And your bonus: Listen to Wikipedia is sublime, best with headphones (h/t Aaron D.)
