Those of you visiting the website will see an advertisement on the sidebar for GiveDirectly, the charitable organization that gives cash directly to the world’s poor. It is one of GiveWell’s top charities in the world and a favorite of mine. I don’t take advertising revenue on the blog, and this is no exception. It’s a pro bono advertisement in the hopes some of you will contribute. Thanks!

I’d like to know their IQ before I do anything. And, almost by definition, people in the West are more capable of fulfilling human potential than those in the Third World. I do support in principle the idea of famine aid, though, as well as helping starving artists who don’t get much respect (Werner Koch used to be one of these). I also support high-potential foreigners receiving Western education.
