Just a small typo Pr. Blattman between 4 and 5 there is a 1 missing.
Are you aware of economic models/papers where the number pi appears ? In mathematics pi is approximated by the sum of explicite series of rationals, so one could, for example, expect to come across pi if one considers the time value of money for targetted interest rates.
