@cblatts As a child I read a story that tried to answer this same question. I’ve always wondered as well. And lost the book.
@cblatts seems to be the wrong video

oops. thanks.
The answer to a lifelong Q – also applies to driving, I guess RT @cblatts: Is it better to walk or run in the rain? http://t.co/hrNsJsed
So, is it dryer to walk or run through rain? A physicist speaks: http://t.co/QnfXHoTH
“@cblatts: Is it better to walk or run in the rain? http://t.co/S234ANoT” #seattle #rainycity
But if you run you’ll likely kick up more rain from puddles which will make the bottom of your trousers wet….if you’re wearing trousers.

In theory, yes this is true. But in practice? This video is assuming that the shape of your body does not change between walking and running. However, it may be possible that while running, your legs extend further in front and behind you, and so more “vertical” rain falls on them. I can think of other potentially confounding factors too. It’ll take more than this thought experiment to convince me!
Long time ago I read a study where researchers were trying to answer this question by weighing their clothes after running or walking in the rain. They concluded running was better.
It depends on the angle: http://www.johndcook.com/blog/?s=running+rain
@cblatts Thank you for this? Any thoughts on whether its cleaner to lick the ground youre standing on than bite your nails?
