It’s MA and PhD application time. (Indeed, I think the early bird, Berkeley, wants PhD applications by tomorrow.)
Here’s my 2013 post on what you need to know about PhD applicaitons.
I talk about choosing among Masters-level programs here.
Also relevant, the post that more or less got this blog started: How to get a PhD and save the world.
It’s a miserable process, but there is this: once you hand your applications, you will feel strangely freed. There is nothing more you can do but wait.
I remember the day I submitted mine. I went out to a nightclub in Toronto with friends where, oddly, a fortune teller was harassing the tables. For some reason I coughed up 10 bucks (the first and only time) and she said this: “That’s odd. It’s as if you have no control over your destiny, as if you are moving in mud, but some time next year you will regain control.” In retrospect, I wish I had asked her to pick stocks.
