It only occurred to me, in retrospect, that my brothers-in-law and I were engaged covertly in a contest to see who could get on the Colbert Report first. Sure, all of our chances were very close to zero. Very, very close to zero. But they were never exactly zero.
Still, none of us thought it would happen this way:

This is a frustrating post.. Now I’m wishing I could have been with your family instead of mine for Thanksgiving.. (The exact opposite of my preferred attitude at Thanksgiving)..
