On 4/2/2010 you posted a blog titled ‘The Africa of the night’ with an excerpt from Steven Smith’s writing on Sarkozy and the French’s parallel diolomacy in Africa.
Today, when you hear Laurent Gbagbo and his coterie complain about French involvement in Ivory Coast, you can’t help but wonder what part of french involvement is the lucrative, personalised politics that Sarkozy denounced during his presidential campain and what is official business. In francoafrique, these lines have become so blurred that it is difficult to tell what’s what.. It would be good to hear what your thoughts are on this.
