I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am, at the speed with which Western banks and countries that once took Qaddafi and Mubarak “family” money without question have now frozen it without once explaining why they see things differently now.

Never trust on the book keeper of the thief. These banks are existing for the sake of money not for the convenience of the people.
How about the general “surprise” expressed by news commentators at how quickly Qaddafi’s sons turned away from their urbane sophistication and became raving, hateful paranoiacs like their old man.
These guys were sons of a dictator, seeing the world on stolen money. Just because they studied at LSE or bought art didn’t mean they were anything different.
Right. Many people probably wish they had celebrities’ lives and jobs but look at what those people do for money.
Not to mention the whole Nelly Furtado and Beyonce “I’ll give Qaddafi’s money to charity now” episode. Thank God I was already boycotting them anyway for making bad music…
