Goodness, I got a horrid fright when skim reading number 3 – I thought for a moment you were providing a link for live streaming of the NFL, which would totally defeat my purpose in moving my beloved to London from New York asap!
As someone hoping to start a PhD in Dev. St. soon, link 2 was interesting!
Chris,
Out of curiosity, how much do you agree with link #2, in it’s advice of choosing a boring topic for your PhD? I am currently in PhD program, and while I don’t plan on saving the world, it is disconcerting to think that the research you want to do should be relatively unambitious and (potentially) uninteresting. Isn’t that part of what makes research so interesting, the excitement of exploring the unknown?
Aha – figured it out. Correct link is:

Hi Chris,
The water purification link is broken (or possibly doesn’t work owing to gating). Could you possibly name the article so I can Google it?
cheers
