New Haven and NYC based research positions

For those in New Haven (or, in one case, New York) I have some positions opening up.

The first position is a one to two-year full time position that involves survey data cleaning and analysis, as well as impact evaluation coordination and grant writing (see projects here). I am running several projects in Uganda and Liberia and require mainly New Haven- or NYC-based assistance (someone already based in those cities is preferred). The job may require short term travel to Uganda or Liberia (i.e. one or two 3-4 week trips in the course of a year). What do I look for? At minimum, some experience in development, statistics training, and top performance in a degree in social science. Preferably, plans for graduate school and experience in statistical analysis and STATA. Pay is $33,000 per year plus health benefits, and you would have to be available to start almost immediately. Please email me with a CV, references, and GPA before Sept 17, with “RA position – Sept 2009” in the subject line.

The second set is for Yale students only, but there are 6 to 10 slots. I need a small army of students to do library, online and archival research, in order to build a systematic database of African rebel groups and their characteristics. This will be a lot of fun. Apply through Yale jobs. Soon.

Update: These positions have been filled. Look for another job posting, for a Uganda position, soon.
