In spite of his thuggish and autocratic tendencies, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for President Museveni of Uganda. And it’s entirely because of stuff like this:

President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday subjected teachers to impromptu tests, disarming most of them as he emphasised the role of markets in economic growth.

…At this juncture, he summoned all History teachers to the microphone and tasked them to elucidate on the Germany unification, what year it united, which Kingdoms made up Germany and the key actors.

…He summoned Biology teachers to explain what metamorphosis is with examples, to illustrate the evolution of the European society.

…Literature teachers who studied William Shakepeare’s The Merchant of Venice were tasked to give a synopsis of the play, to illustrate the emergence of the merchant and middle class in Europe.

A couple of questions on African history and literature might be fairer game, but you have to love an autodidact and intellectual politician.
