1. Chris–It is easy to dismiss this as pure piffle but I actually think this messenger of peace stuff works. George Clooney has been relentless in getting the Save Darfur campaign going and bringing media attention to this region. Despite the lack of success in terms of concrete results, it is amazing how much Darfur has remained in the public eye–unlike the situation in Burma, Zimbabwe etc. Churches and other organizations all over the country (not just NYC or Washington DC) have adopted the cause of bringing peace to Darfur. Charitable contributions have poured in. The Bush Adminstration has put pressure on the Sudanese government every which way. You gotta give atleast some of the credit to George!
