The Council of Science Editors has organized a Global Theme Issue on Poverty and Human Development, in which science journals throughout the world simultaneously published articles on this topic on October 22, 2007–free and online. This is an international collaboration of 235 journals from developed and developing countries.
Nature and its cluster of journals have a special web page devoted to the theme. Some of the non-technical commentaries and editorials include:
- Ending parachute medicine: Building medical research labs in developing countries
- Physics for development
- A father of India’s Green Revolution pushes for rural Internet access
- Nanotechnology for clean water
- A look at randomized development field trials
- A template for teaching science in Africa
- Neglected tests for diagnosing infectious diseases in poverty-stricken areas
