My advisor tended not to forget.
That is 1000 percent better than ANY meeting I had with my first graduate advisor. The gentleman I expected to study under suddenly retired a month before I started grad school, and the man I was placed with was abusive. The department hired a wonderful professor but he started with a sabbatical year so it wasn’t until my third year did I have a supportive adviser for my dissertation.
