  1. You’re a (former?) climber, right? So presumably you’re familiar with slacklining. Of course, base jumping off the slackline is taking it to a new level. I especially like the massive rope swing into a base jump–that’s got to be my favorite.

    You should check out Mark Twight’s essay “Under the Ground” in his book Kiss or Kill. This video is further confirmation of that essay. Krakauer has a similar story of doing a big solo alpine climb in Chamonix and feeling emasculated in the bar afterward when a French climber asked him why he didn’t paraglide off the top of the peak afterward.
