Work for me in Ethiopia?

The project description is here. The question is simple: “More sweatshops for Africa?”

We are working with firms to randomize who gets low-skill factory and farm jobs from the pool of applicants. Some of the unsuccessful applicants get training and funds to start their own business, and we study that too. What’s the impact of factory jobs on someone’s health and wealth and politics? What enriches and empowers more: micro-enterprise or large firm?

We’re looking for a research assistant for about two years, to start before the end of the year. They will effectively run the study with one other existing project coordinator. The project is fascinating, the people are wonderful, and (south of the Sahara) the climate and food cannot be beat!

The job posting and application instructions are here.

  1. Hello Professor Blattman,

I am really interested in this position. I missed the deadline on IPA website. Is there anyway you can take a look at my CV and Cover Letter?
