I feel strangled by the grammar rules that were drummed into me in childhood… but hopefully, every repetition will bring me closer to accepting that people can be ‘that’ and not ‘who’.

I see ‘who’ becoming obsolete in contemporary usage, even by academics!! Perhaps this is just another useful simplification of the language, but it sounds uninformed and disrespectful to my ear. Clearly, I need to adapt.
