“Political science failed Liberia”

That headline from the Liberian Observer:

Maryland County Senior Senator John Ballout has attributed the political instability and state failure which Liberia experienced over the years to unclear and half-baked political science teachings in the country.

Addressing a gathering at the induction ceremony of officers-elect of the Political Science Department of the University of Liberia (UL), Senator Ballout cited bad governance and political struggle as major players responsible for the conflict in Liberia.

He added: “Political Science students must do away with studying Political Science as a course to enter national politics but study the subject as a life-saving and public-interest tool.”
