The changing face of Mexican mafia extortion

Both teachers talked of La Familia’s recruitment of their older students. “They’re looking for two kinds of people,” the first teacher said. “Rough, violent kids from broken families, that’s one. The other is good students, especially those who are good at computer work. They are thinking about the future. They want to be able to research properly the assets of the people and the businesses they extort. That’s the new model.”
