In case you are wondering why Mugabe lives in a bubble

The streets of Pretoria were clogged yesterday with the motorcades of African kings, presidents and dictators heading towards the Union Buildings to sip Dom Perignon champagne at President Jacob Zuma’s 75m rand (£6m) inauguration bash.

Among the VIPs were Libya’s Muammar Gadaffi and Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, who received a standing ovation from an elite crowd that included at least 30 present or former heads of state.

  1. Shocking. but are we viewing this from the POV of the ‘West’ and not as an ‘African’? pardon the bad stereotyping..

  2. Not surprising, given that it was only a few years ago that Mugabe was voted the 3rd greatest African of all time (topped only by Nelson Mandela and Kwame Nkrumah)…

  3. It’s actually just The Times. It’s a national paper – not specific to London. Our “The Times” doesn’t have a city in it’s title. Hard to believe, I guess…
